DIY Carpentry - Intro

Learn the essential skills to tackle simple carpentry projects at home with confidence! This beginner-friendly course covers practical techniques for measuring, cutting, and assembling wood, helping you create functional and stylish pieces for your home. No prior experience needed—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

Absolute beginners with little or no carpentry experience.
Homeowners or renters who want to improve their DIY skills.
Anyone looking to save money by doing small carpentry projects themselves.

Location: Our workshop in Basingstoke.
Format: Face-to-face, instructor-led practical training.
Duration: Equivalent to a full day (choose two weekday evenings or one Saturday session).
Group Size: Small groups for personalised attention.
What to Bring: Safety boots (mandatory). All other tools and materials are provided.

I completed the EWPA Carpentry Level 2. It was carried out in one day plus taking a few photos and filling in some forms. The forms were pretty straightforward and Craig also offered some advice filling them in. The practical test was carried out with just myself and one other carpenter. We weren't in a rush to finish the little stud wall and chatted our way through the day. David the assessor was down to earth and helpful. I've received my certificate from Multi Trades 3 days after completion. So I will now call CSCS and get my blue card.

I recently had to do a EWPA to gain a level 2 NVQ in bricklaying due to the changes in the cscs card system. I would highly recommend to anyone in the same situation to do the course with mttraining, the course is well organised and the instructor Ryan was great guy and thanks to Craig who was very helpful with the organising of the whole thing.
